Overall a nice and small, modern, consumer cam. With some tweaks high quality shots are possible. For mAc users the easy accessibility makes the VPC HD2000A Xacti a strong contender.
you can slide this thing in your trouser pocket i really am not kidding, its simply marvelous! *Despite its small size, Sanyo have still managed to pack in an impressive optical zoom feature which is very rare for portable camcorders. In otherwords you can zoom in to far away objects without compromising on quality. *The fold out LCD screen is also a nice touch, as it can be flipped around when you want to take that inevitable arms length video or photograph. *The ability to shoot HD film on such a small device is top notch and it’s 8-megapixel photo still function is also a winner. Unfortunately, this camera does have a few flaws which let the side down… CONS *It’s control setup is simply dreadful, and this is big huge problem especially for a portable camcorder such as this. The buttons and switches to control the camcorder functions are simply too small for most of us to use comfortably, so the task of recording a video or taking a video as a result becomes a rather fiddly affair. *While offering the ability to use large 32GB memory cards, trying to get one inserted or removed from the unit is a heck of challenge in itself. Again, keeping in with the “fiddly design theme” Sanyo have got going on. *For its price Sanyo could have easily included a SD card in the box as the internal memory is so small its entirely pointless being there. (I managed 5 seconds of HD footage before the thing filled up.) Though, this is a minor quibble. Its a real shame as this camcorder does most things rather well; unfortunately its these very flaws that prevent me from giving it a 5 star recommendation.
